After driving over 2200 miles from Albuquerque to Vermont, Keith and I had the chance to fly Zephyrus' Kiss in New Hampshire. After getting a great weather report the night before, I contacted Ray Fornier of What's up Ballooning in Henniker, New Hampshire. Here is a link to his pictures of the flight. We decided to meet at his house in the morning and go from there. The winds were calm and when we got to the launch site Mary Ann Lappies of Ballooning Adventures in Hillsboro, New Hampshire offered to drive for us. This was great of course since we did not actually have anyone to drive for us when we got there. The winds aloft were a little (LOT) faster than reported so we ended up cutting the flight short and landed in a hay field that belonged to some GREAT landowners in Weare, New Hampshire. After the flight we went back to Ray's house to shoot the you know what for a while and then Mary Ann treated Keith and I to a wonderful breakfast at her house/repair station. Other than the winds I don't think this could have been a better re-introduction into New England ballooning and I thank Ray and Mary Ann from the bottom of my heart for making it a truly memorable experience.
